After being kept out of the spotlight in the early going of the Obama administration, Biden couldn't resist putting his foot in his mouth. When the swine flu was getting around the clock coverage, President Obama held a press conference to calm fears and exhort Americans not to panic. The very next day, Biden tells the media that he would not let his family go into a crowded area, such as on a bus or flying on a plane.
This is our Vice-President! He does not have the ability to grasp what his position entails. TheVice-President has far greater access to information than the rest of us. So, when the press ask questions of people in high office, they are looking for clues on what the public should expect. Saying you wouldn't let your family use public transportation could have sent the nation into grid-lock, as people refused to go to work or school based on Biden's statement. Makes misspelling potato look fairly trivial.
After only 100 days in office, Joe Biden is such a joke that he has his own punch-line. It starts out, "What Joe Biden meant to say..." This is what the White House Press Secretary began with to explain Biden's swine flu gaffe. The press roared with laughter, as this incompetence has become so expected from Biden that nobody was upset by the fact that Biden could have caused a national panic. The fact that he lacks any credibility should be sufficient reason for Obama to push for a job change. This is a time when America needs every element of its leadership to function at a high level.
The fact that Biden has no idea what's going on in his own country, casts doubt on claims that he's a foreign policy guru. Based on what? Overseeing giving away billions of taxpayers dollars to foreign governments, or making trade agreements that hurt American businesses? Just imagine the gaffes he's been making to these foreign leaders in private.
If you want to give a politician an attribute that won't be tested by our media, just say they have foreign policy experience. Since most Americans don't know what's going on in the rest of the world, they'll accept this as if it were a factual credential. While Biden might have "experience", what exactly has he done? I can hang out at a school for a long time and claim I have School "experience". Why bother getting a degree? This would not fly with most employers, unless I wanted to be Vice-President.
Who is the greatest goof to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, Biden or Quayle?
